Everything in Naples seems to run out of Piazza Garibaldi and the Central Station near the hotel. A run-down area mostly, but the south side of the square that Hotel Ideal is on is fine: quite safe, very close to station and has lots of choices of decent outdoor cafes\restaurants. For people planning to travel around the Naples area - Pompei, Herculaneum, etc. - it's truly an ideal hub for getting everywhere. Room was amazingly quiet at night for being on a main square. Decor was pleasant, bathrooms a cut above most European budget hotels. Would definitely recommend it.
It got hot and muggy while I was in Naples. The hotel thoughtfully included ac in the room but no blankets, just a sheet, so I had a choice of being chilly with the ac or too hot with an open window. I imagine customers could request a blanket, but one wasn't in the room. For normal summer sleeping in the 60s or 70s at night, an open window and the sheet would be enough.
Nice friendly staffs. Room was clean and a very good size. A couple of very nice authentic Italian restos next the to the hotel.
bathroom needs some work and improvement.
It is in a very convenient situation which is just near the main train station. The reception was quite helpful, rooms are clean and comfortable.
The location of the hotel was very good for those who plan moving around Napoli - it's located 5 mins from the train station. The price was relatively OK - 30 EUR for a double is reasonable, however in high season they may charge you as much as 120 EUR per night
The breakfast in the hotel was disgusting. No fresh bread, no juices, just coffee (don't dream about the italian type of coffee...) and very poor variety of jams. One type of cheese, some ham of doubtable quality and one type of cereal - this is not what you expect normally. Well, you can always skip the hotel breakfast and go to the nearest bar for a capuccino and cornetto.
La signora who was at the reception when we arrived gave as a lot of useful tips about the public transportation, the places to visit and the city. Thank you! The hotel is very good situated for visiting Pompei, Capri and the old city. It is a pity that the city is so dirty!
The breakfast could be more varied.
It was close to the station, clean, large rooms and is what is says on the door, Ideal.
The hotel was close to the station and there were a couple of good restaurants close by also.
It was difficult to take bags upstairs to the room. There was no lift. Breakfasts were basic, but that's what you get for the cheaper rates.
The location of the hotel near the train station was ideal for us. The amenities were very basic, but the room was clean. Being able to leave our bags there before check-in time was also very convenient for us. The breakfast was adequate. The price was right.
I didn't like the lack of internet in the room. Also, the bathroom was very small and crowded. The front desk didn't have enough cash to provide the proper change.
The location is excellent for a start point to tour the city. It is amazing to look out your window and see all the drivers trying to kill themselves, or others, especially pedestrians in the crosswalks. The construction was interesting to watch and provided many hours of observation. I enjoyed my stay.
Did not like that they keep passports until you paid the bill.....
Very clean and with such a central location very quiet. Excellent for train and airport bus connections. Small rooms but what do you expect at such a price.
The breakfest starts only at 7h. It is requested to start earlier.
The only plus point was the proximity to the station. Air conditioning was a factor when booking but the fact that there was no facility to control the temperature meant we froze.
The bathroom was dirty, the shower was held together with electrical tape and no shower products were supplied. Half the light bulbs didn't work. The cleaning staff barged into our room whilst we were still asleep. The emergency exits were poorly signposted and disguised with sliding partitions, given that the hotel was a maze this is exceedingly dangerous. Breakfast was a vile affair consisting of stale bread, cold coffee, watery orange squash and meat that was clearly more appealing to the insect life. The hotel in general was run down and falling apart. Left luggage facilities were available but not secure, the lack of security also applied to the hotel reception and key allocation. There is no way this establishment warrants a three star rating, we've stayed in more luxurious tents.
Not a great place to visit but used it for an over night stay to visit Pompeii Area come across as a dangerous place so be careful when walking around and do not venture out at night down the back streets !
The location near the station, very convinient in order to visit Pompei, arrive/go to the airport, arrive/go to Rome (by train).
Very old hotel, and inconfortable bed. In any case, the room was clean and the value for money (we paid only 35 euros) is very convinient for just one night.
Cheap but ideal for a one night stay if you are travelling on your own and want to be near the station in Naples.
